It’s not where we’ve been that matters as much as where we’re going. But looking back, Compendium Insurance is a concept a long time coming. From small beginnings, today, Compendium Insurance has the size and leverage to do more for its clients.
1928 LA Fletcher founded in Durban as a chief agent for the SA Eagle Insurance Company.
1951 Durco Insurance Brokers established.
1981 Jack Wood & Associates Pty (Ltd) acquires the Nagel and Durco companies.
1994 After one year with the firm, Rowan Jones takes over the helm and becomes a major shareholder in Jack Wood & Associates.
1995 The company acquires Mariger Insurance Brokers and Insurance Solutions.
1997 The name changes to Jack Wood & Associates. The company acquires LA Fletcher and Group Insurance Brokers.
1999 Two major strategic acquisitions, Geoff Patterson Insurance Brokers and David Pickford and Associates, leads to the establishment of Compendium Insurance Group (Pty) Ltd on 1 November 1999.
2001 Compendium acquires Jaguar Insurance Brokers.
2002 Hollard Insurance Company takes a shareholding in the rapidly expanding Compendium Group.
2003 Natal Broker Services comes on board.
2004 Compendium acquires a shareholding in Mr Woollam & Associates (Pty) Ltd, a Pietermaritzburg based brokerage with a
Cape Town office.
2004 Compendium becomes FAIS compliant in accordance with prevailing legislation.
2010 Several brokerages join the Compendium Group, adding to the company’s growing national footprint:
- Compendium Eastern Cape
- Compendium Zululand
- Compendium Gauteng
